Thermal Imaging Offers Proactive Approach

Pamela Howard, doctor of chiropractic and founder of Advanced Thermal Imaging, with offices in Columbia and Mechanicsburg, helps clients take a proactive approach to health. As a certified clinical thermographer, she utilizes digital infrared thermal imaging (DITI), also known as thermography.
According to Meditherm, manufacturer of the thermographic camera, “Medical DITI is a noninvasive, diagnostic technique that utilizes an infrared scanning device (camera) to convert infrared radiation emitted from the skin surface into electrical impulses that are visualised in colour on a monitor.”
The image, or thermogram, graphically maps the body temperature to indicate an increase or decrease in the amount of heat emitted from the body surface. Because there is a high degree of thermal symmetry in the normal body, subtle abnormal temperature asymmetries can be easily identified.
“Abnormal body temperature may indicate an area of concern,” notes Howard. “Thermography is a screening tool for whole body health in both women and men.”
