Hartzell House Bed & Breakfast Hosts Grief-Focused Retreat
A two-day Opening to Feel Grief retreat will be held August 7-9, 2026, at Hartzell House Bed & Breakfast, in Addison. Offering participants a structured, supportive space to explore personal and collective grief through guided practices, the retreat, guided by grief educator and grief movement guide Melissa Angelini, aims to provide time, space and care for individuals experiencing grief of any kind.
Designed as an immersive experience, participants are invited to slow down, connect with their emotions and be witnessed in community. Angelini will guide attendees through practices including meditation, reflective writing, group sharing and somatic awareness exercises intended to help participants process loss and emotional pain in a grounded environment. The retreat offers a safe, compassionate container where grief is not rushed or fixed but allowed to be felt and integrated at an individual pace.
Angelini notes that grief can arise from many life experiences including the death of loved ones, major life transitions, illness and broader emotional or collective losses. “This retreat is structured to support participants in acknowledging the layers of grief while also offering them tools for continued emotional processing after the weekend concludes,” she says.
Hartzell House Bed & Breakfast, a historic lodging space known for hosting wellness-oriented retreats and gatherings, provides the setting for the program, offering a quiet rural environment intended to support reflection and rest.
