Letter from Publisher - APRIL 2020

I’ve
worked from home for most of the last decade. Working from home today is
different. Everything is different. As I write this letter, the world is
changing, literally moment by moment.
Yet
with all the change, upheaval, anxiety and uncertainty in the air, my two cats,
KJ and Jasmine, rest peacefully in the sun, alternating their attention between
what’s outside the window and their meticulous self-grooming. They are completely
absorbed in the present moment. As I observe them, I too, snap back to the
present moment, letting the fog of future uncertainties clear, if only for a
few moments.
Life
as we know it has been turned upside-down and the uncertainty of what lies
ahead feels a bit overwhelming. I keep reminding myself to breathe and stay
focused on what’s in front of me. Keep taking action. Keep moving forward. I
remember that the best way through challenging times is with the support of my
community—my network of family and friends, along with the social and business
connections that are woven into the fabric of my life.
The
natural health and wellness community of South Central Pennsylvania is part of
that fabric. We are strong, connected and resilient—creative, passionate and
caring—resourceful, generous and determined. It is our nature to pull together
and support each other, especially our local businesses and those in need.
Our
amazing community of advertisers has adapted their services to meet your needs
under the current circumstances, and they appreciate your continued support,
whether it is via online shopping, live streaming, phone, remote access, pick-up orders or
special delivery.
Please continue reaching out to them in whatever way feels best for you to continue
your journey of self-care and personal health and wellness.
Natural
Awakenings
brings you fresh content every month to support a healthy and natural
lifestyle. This issue is no different, as the theme celebrates Earth Day with
articles about climate action initiatives, healthy home tips, acupuncture for
pets, edible flowers and more. The events listed throughout this issue were
still scheduled as of our print deadline, however, please be sure to confirm
with the host to see if a class or event has been moved to an online venue, postponed
to a later date or cancelled.
We
look forward to staying connected and we hold each of you within this
community's ever-growing embrace of wellness. May you and yours remain healthy and
happy as together, we set positive intentions and envision a time of more
certainty and stability arriving soon—all the while staying in the moment and enjoying
the sunshine, as we discover ways to feel good, live simply and laugh more.
